Good Tidings to You Frameless Shaker Snowman Card

Hello Friends! Kelly Griglione here to share a really fun card featuring the darling snowman from Good Tidings to You using a new-to-me technique that I recently saw Ilda Dias use ... frameless shaker cards! Although I love how shakers look, I was never really a fan of making them because I didn't like using all of that foam tape. Plus the bulk made it difficult to mail.

With this style of shaker card though, you skip the foam tape and bulk. Instead, wrap clear mylar, acetate, packaging, report covers, cellophane, basically anything you can find that's clear, around the area you want to shake. You could make the entire card a shaker if you wanted to! Obviously the thicker the material you use, the better your card will hold up.

I grabbed one of my husband's clear comic book bags and cut a piece that would fit around my panel.  Then I added the shaker elements to my panel, folded the sides of the clear mylar back behind the panel, and secured all the sides with tape.  I like that the snowflakes move around plenty when you shake it, but it also tends to hold the shaker contents in place. It's a good balance. Love how the snowflakes float around the darling snowman like it's really snowing.

I've only used the snowman here, but the Good Tidings to You set has five other adorable illustrations. Evelin always draws the cutest critters ever! I just want to give this guy a big hug!

Skate-Your-Own-Greeting with Fun in the Snow

Hello! Kelly here with a card idea that you can completely customize for what you need!

One of my favorite little critters from Evelin's winter stamp sets is this adorable ice skating bear from Fun in the Snow. The way his arms are open wide, and his proud expression, makes it seem like he is showing off his skating abilities. When this set was released, I created a card with the heart doodle by the bear's skate to make it look like he had just finished skating a little heart in the ice. As I we as creating that card I had an idea that I could really make it look like he had just finished skating whatever design or word I wanted. So that's what I did here!

I sketched out my "noel" greeting in pencil first, and then went over it with a felt-tipped pen. I think this would be a cute idea for customizing a card with a person's name, the city they just moved to, or even their favorite sports team (use the team colors in the bear's scarf!) So many different possibilities!

The "ice" is made from smooshing ink onto a stamping block, adding a few drops of water, and then placing the cardstock in the ink. It's always a surprise what you get!

The "from OUR home to YOURS" sentiment is from All is Calm and could really be used on any holiday card you create.

Only a few days until Halloween, and then the holidays will really seem like they are just around the corner. Hope you're collecting lots of ideas these past few weeks. I know I am!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Coffee Art Spinner Card

Hi Folks! Kelly Griglione here with a fun, interactive card for your favorite coffee lover! The new Coffee Art set is loaded with all sorts of different art you can add to your coffee. And why pick just one?! I sure didn't want to, so for my first design team post I set about creating a spinner card featuring ALL the coffee art!

No special dies needed, just some good old-fashioned construction skills that I'm going to share here. To begin with, I designed the top of the card with all the cute coffee cups, and picked one of the coffee cups to showcase the changing art inside. For that cup I cut a circle out of the inside to make a window.

For the mechanism inside I cut a circle from brown cardstock (if you don't have a circle die, just trace around a tin can or something else in your kitchen). Then I poked a hole in the center and put the tip of a pencil through so I can mark where it should be attached to the card base. At this point you should also line up the top of the card over the brown circle to make sure the art will show through the window in the coffee cup. This is when I realized the brown circle was a little too small to hang over the edge for it to be spun. No worries, I just cut a larger white circle and adhered it underneath the brown circle. Then I put a brad through the middle of the circles to attach them to the card base.

To make sure the art is stamped in the right place, I divided the brown circle in 6 equal sections and lined up the top of the card over everything. I stamped the coffee art through the window of the coffee cup, spun the circle to the next section, stamped another coffee art, spun the circle, stamped, spun, stamped, spun, etc.

To make sure the brown circle spins freely, I built up some layers around it.

Then I adhered the layers to the card base, and attached the brown circle spinner with a brad to the base. The top of the card is adhered to the layers. Now I can add the rest of the coffee cups and sentiment to the top of the card.

And here it is all assembled!

As you spin the circle, a new piece of coffee art appears! The recipient can have a new card almost every day of the week.

And here are all the different variations! Would you like to see it in action?

Fun, right?! I really enjoy making interactive cards like these. It's a challenge to see if I can take an idea and make it work.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this spinner card take place, and maybe have some ideas of your own to try!
